The Cure - Pictures of You

"Pictures of You" is a song by The Cure written by Robert Smith from the 1989 album Disintegration.
According to interviews, the inspiration of the song came when a fire broke loose in Robert Smith's home. After that day, Robert was going through the remains and came across his wallet which had pictures of his wife, Mary. The cover of the single is one of the pictures. The same picture is featured on the "Charlotte Sometimes" cover, but this one is the full image while the 1981 single's cover was a different theme.

i've been looking so long at these pictures of
you that i almost belive that they're real i've
been living so long with my pictures of you that
i almost believe that the pictures are all i can
feel

remembering you standing quiet in the rain as
i ran to your heart to be near and we kissed as
the sky fell in holding you close how i always
held close in your fear remembering you
running soft through the night you were bigger
and brighter than the snow and
screamed at the make-believe screamed at the
sky and you finally found all your courage to
let it all go

remembering you fallen into my arms crying
for the death of your heart you were stone
white so delicate lost in the cold you were
always so lost in the dark remembering you
how you used to be slow drowned you were
angels so much more than everything oh hold
for the last time then slip away quietly open
my eyes but i never see anything

if only i had thought of the right words i could
have hold on to your heart if only i'd thought of
the right words i wouldn't be breaking apart all
my pictures of you

Looking So long at these pictures of you but i
never hold on to your heart looking so long for
the words to be true but always just breaking
apart my pictures of you

there was nothing in the world that i ever
wanted more than to feel you deep in my heart
there was nothing in the world that i ever
wanted more than to never feel the breaking
apart all my pictures of you

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - American Girl

"American Girl" is the second single from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers self-titled debut album. The single did not chart in the U.S., but in the UK it peaked at #40 the week ending August 27, 1977. Petty wrote the song while living in California.

Well she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin'
That there was a little more to life somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
And if she had to die tryin'
She had one little promise she was gonna keep

Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy, baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl

Well it was kinda cold that night
She stood alone on her balcony
Yeah, she could hear the cars roll by
Out on 441 like waves crashin' on the beach
And for one desperate moment
There he crept back in her memory
God it's so painful when something that's so close
Is still so far out of reach

Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy, baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird

"Free Bird" is a rock anthem by the American rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Starting out as a slow piano ballad, it features gospel-flavored organ, chirping slide guitar, and an approximately four and a quarter minute long guitar solo in the form of an up-tempo guitar duel. It made the charts on numerous occasions in both the U.S. and UK but only reached #19 in the U.S. Billboard charts. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988 when it was mixed with Peter Frampton's "Baby, I Love Your Way" by the band Will to Power. The original version of the song was recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The live version is also Lynyrd Skynyrd's longest song.
The song was written early in the group's history. Roadie Billy Powell was unknown as a piano player to the band but was discovered when he played the intro piece to "Free Bird" at a high school musical. Powell became a member after Ronnie Van Zant noticed his talent and invited him to join.
The lyrics came about when Allen Collins' steady girlfriend, who realized that the music always came first with Allen, asked him the question: "If I leave here tomorrow would you still remember me?" Allen jotted the line down for future use. This question became the opening line of "Free Bird".
When Allen first showed the song to Ronnie Van Zant, he scoffed at it, saying it "had too many words." Later Van Zant had an idea for a melody, asked Allen to play him the song again, and "Free Bird" was born.

If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be travelling on, now,
'Cause there's too many places I've got to see.
But, if I stayed here with you, girl,
Things just couldn't be the same.
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now,
And this bird you can not change.
Lord knows, I can't change.

Bye, bye, its been a sweet love.
Though this feeling I can't change.
But please don't take it badly,
'Cause Lord knows I'm to blame.
But, if I stayed here with you girl,
Things just couldn't be the same.
Cause I'm as free as a bird now,
And this bird you'll never change.
And this bird you can not change.
Lord knows, I can't change.
Lord help me, I can't change.

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

"Bohemian Rhapsody" is a song written by Freddie Mercury and originally recorded by the band Queen for their 1975 album A Night at the Opera. The song is in the style of a stream-of-consciousness nightmare, and has unusual musical structure for popular music (it has no chorus, instead consisting of seemingly disjunct sections including operatic segments and an a cappella and heavy metal part). Despite this, it was released as a single and became a huge commercial success. In addition, the song is widely hailed as Queen's magnum opus, and it marked a decisive point in the band's career and set them on the way to become one of the world's most popular music groups. The single was accompanied by a groundbreaking music video (then termed a "promotional video") which helped establish the visual language of the modern music video. A truncated version of the song was included in all Queen's subsequent live concert performances (as the band could not recreate the middle section live, because of the many overdubbed voices) and still enjoys great popularity around the world.

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy (poor boy), I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me

Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooo
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters

It's too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody - I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo - (anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouche, scaramouche, will you do the fandango?
Thunderbolts and lightning - very very frightening me
Galileo, Galileo,
Galileo, Galileo,
Galileo Figaro - magnifico

I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy go - will you let me go
Bismillah! No - we will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let me go
Will not let you go - let me go (never)
Never let you go - let me go
Never let me go - ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no -
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has the devil put aside for me
for me
for me
for me

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye?
So you think you can love me and leave me to die?
Oh baby - can't do this to me baby
Just gotta get out - just gotta get right outta here

Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters - nothing really matters to me
Anyway the wind blows...

Tom Petty - Free Fallin'

"Free Fallin" is the opening track from Tom Petty's 1989 solo album, Full Moon Fever. The song was written by Petty and his writing partner for the album, Jeff Lynne. The song topped Billboard's Album Rock Tracks chart the week ending August 26, 1989 and spent 33 weeks on the chart, making it Petty's longest charting track. The single peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January, 1990. Petty and The Heartbreakers performed the song at MTV Video Music Awards in 1989 with Axl Rose and at the February 2008 Super Bowl XLII Halftime Show

She's a good girl, loves her mama
loves Jesus and America too
She's a good girl, crazy 'bout Elvis
loves horses and her boyfriend too

It's a long day, livin' in Reseda
there's a freeway, runnin' through the yard
and I'm a bad boy, 'cause I don't even miss her
I'm a bad boy for breakin' her heart

And I'm free, free fallin'
Yeah I'm free, free fallin'

All the vampires, walkin' through the valley
Move west down, Ventura Blvd.
And all the bad boys, are standing in the shadows
All the good girls, are home with broken hearts

And I'm free, I'm free fallin'
Yeah I'm free, free fallin'

I wanna glide down, over Mulholland
I wanna write her, name in the sky
I wanna free fall, out into nothin'
Gonna leave this, world for awhile

And I'm free, free fallin'
Yeah I'm free, free fallin'

And I'm free, free fallin'
Oh!

Free fallin'
And I'm free, oh! free fallin'

Agnosticism

This is from my Myspace blog I thought I would share it here aswell .

Agnosticism (from the Greek a, meaning "without" and gnosis, "knowledge", translating to unknowable) is the philosophical view that the truth value of certain claims—particularly theological claims regarding metaphysics, afterlife or the existence of God, god(s), or deities—is unknown or (possibly) inherently unknowable.

Agnostics claim either that it is not possible to have absolute or certain knowledge or, alternatively, that while certainty may be possible, they personally have no knowledge. Agnosticism in both cases involves some form of skepticism.

Demographic research services normally list agnostics alongside categories such as atheist and non-religious, although this is misleading, since religious people can be agnostic (indicating a lack of absolute certainty, therefore treating their religion as a faith).

"Agnostic" was introduced by Thomas Henry Huxley in 1869 to describe his philosophy. The term agnostic is also used to describe those who do not absolutely commit themselves about the existence of deities as well as about other matters of religion.

Early Christian church leaders used the Greek word gnosis (knowledge) to describe "spiritual knowledge". Agnosticism is not to be confused with religious views opposing the doctrine of gnosis and Gnosticism— these are religious concepts that are not generally related to agnosticism.

Is there a supernatural power—an arbitrary mind—an enthroned God—a supreme will that sways the tides and currents of the world—to which all causes bow? I do not deny. I do not know—but I do not believe. I believe that the natural is supreme—that from the infinite chain no link can be lost or broken—that there is no supernatural power that can answer prayer—no power that worship can persuade or change—no power that cares for man.

I believe that with infinite arms Nature embraces the all—that there is no interference—no chance—that behind every event are the necessary and countless causes, and that beyond every event will be and must be the necessary and countless effects.

Is there a God? I do not know. Is man immortal? I do not know. One thing I do know, and that is, that neither hope, nor fear, belief, nor denial, can change the fact. It is as it is, and it will be as it must be.

We can be as honest as we are ignorant. If we are, when asked what is beyond the horizon of the known, we must say that we do not know.

I do not think that there is a conclusive argument by which one can prove that there is not a God or otherwise that there is a God.

An agnostic thinks it impossible to know the truth in matters such as God and the future life with which Christianity and other religions are concerned. Or, if not impossible, at least impossible at the present time.

I have been agnostic since I was 13 at first I was very confused ... I grew up in a pentacostal household . I attended church sometimes 7 days a week . When my Grandmother died I was very hurt and my heart was broken, I prayed for God to heal my broken heart . For a year I prayed and nothing changed at first I was angry and then I began to question everything I had been taught . Had I ever felt God's presence in my life ? The answer was no . I found within myself a power to heal myself . I no longer need to believe in a higher power to heal myself or bring myself peace . I do not need to be reassured by a higher power . I believe in the power I myself and others have to make things happen in our lives and our world . I cannot say that there is no God because I simply do not know . So I am agnostic someday perhaps I will change my mind but for now I am happy with my beliefs .

Hellboy II : The Golden Army

I just watched Hellboy II and it was GREAT ! I loved it ... some parts were so funny . I am so excited now for the next one, I just hope it doesn't take as long for there to be another sequel . I thought the story was pretty good . The beginning was great with a little bit of Hellboy's childhood . There is one scene in particular that is so very funny, Abe and Hellboy get drunk and sing some sappy love songs together . I wish there had been a bit more fighting and maybe a better ending but it really left alot for you to look forward to in the next movie . I would still like to see the movie in a theatre because the resolution on my computer screen was pretty blurry and I didn't get the full effect, maybe this weekend i'll go .

I can't smile without you ...... hehehehe . Goodnight ! =)

Cherry Blossom

This evening i've been working on the sweet little Blossom you see in the middle of this post ..... the kanji you see mean Geisha or Artist in japanese . I have unsucesfully attempted to do geisha/japanese girls in the past . I think I got this one right . I am happy with her . Most of the image was made out of circles . I could not get a good cherry blossom so I used habiscus, I hope it doesn't take away from the entire thing .
I have been pretty bored today ... I slept to around 10 this morning . We cleaned the pool but it was soooo cold . I also watched the new season of Project Runway tonight and I wasn't so impressed with the designers . I haven't picked a favorite yet, last season I loved Christian right away . I can't believe the show will be moving to Lifetime next season . =(
So I guess thats it ... not much really . I made some peanut butter cookies but I think I didn't add enough brown sugar because they weren't very sweet . I wish I had taken pictures though .

Calendar

Next month (August) is my birthday month so I made my desktop calendar a little early to make sure everyone remembers . If you like the preview you can download the wallpaper here . The wallpaper is for a 1024x768 screen resolution . My day has been so long and I am super tired . I cleaned my sisters room top to bottom . I took everything off the walls and reorganized .... even the closet . Tommorow I plan on tackling my room there are a few things that I want to move around .
I keep putting off working on my cupcake mafia myspace image site . I guess i'm lazy I can always think of something more important that I need or want to do . Maybe I will work on it tommorow after I am done cleaning ..... probably not .
Last night I ordered a butt load of magazines . Vogue, Allure, Harpers Bazaar, Lucky and +++more . My mail man is going to hate me . Ehhh anyways my stomach feels uck i'm pretty sure it's because of this boil water advisory that i've been ignoring . I guess I really should skip ice in my drinks because it seems to get worse every time I have a soda with ice . Speaking of soda I should really lay off it for a while my kidneys seriously are gonna make a run for the hills soon if I don't stop torturing them .

Pink Lady

My creativity has taken a leave of absence . =( I can't do anything anymore .... I can barely type lately . I want to blog but I can never think of anything to write because my day and life in general are sooo very boring . My day went like this wake up (1:30PM), brush teeth, clean my space, check email, watch a movie, eat a burger, try to do a little work and now here I am . See totally boring ..... I never even go anywhere . Honestly what do I have to blog about besides not having anything to blog about . Right, I know I am ridiculous . Anyway I tried doing a little bubble person that I had worked on a few years back with great success ... this time she didn't turn out well . I had no intention of doing a Pink Lady but that's what it turned into .

I wasn't planning on making her cry but that's how it turnd out . She kind of looks like Frenchy though, right ?
